About The Contemporary Tourist

There is more to travel
than where we go.

The Contemporary Tourist explains the policies, prices, businesses, economies, and changing behaviors that shape modern travel.

Why this platform exists

01

Travel becomes more useful when we understand the system behind it.

A trip connects travelers to airlines, hotels, destination organizations, local businesses, public infrastructure, workers, and communities. The Contemporary Tourist looks beyond the surface of a vacation to explain those relationships—and to answer the practical questions that arise along the way.

What began as an educational publication is becoming a connected travel platform where people can read about tourism, explore destination intelligence, and turn that understanding into thoughtfully planned journeys.

A note from the founder

— Ebby

I created The Contemporary Tourist because I wanted a place where tourism knowledge and everyday travel questions could exist together. Travelers deserve direct answers about airport programs, hotel charges, baggage rules, and booking decisions. They can also benefit from understanding how visitor spending, destination dependence, technology, and industry strategy shape the places they visit.

As a tourism student with experience working for a destination organization and at a hotel front desk, I encounter travel from several perspectives. I see the questions guests ask, the systems businesses operate, and the larger concepts destinations use to understand tourism.

That perspective now extends into destination intelligence and travel advising. Through TCT Intelligence, I’m building tools that make official tourism data easier to explore and understand. Through travel advising, I turn research, destination context, and personal guidance into professionally arranged journeys.

As an independent travel advisor affiliated with OutsideAgents.com, I can help travelers move from inspiration to a bookable itinerary while keeping each journey connected to The Contemporary Tourist’s research-driven, human approach.

The goal is not simply to recommend where to go. It is to make the world of travel easier—and more interesting—to understand.
